We regard product development as the supreme actuarial discipline, because it requires a mastery of insurance principles and goals combined with an in-depth knowledge of the surrounding legal and economic environment.

For us, actuarial practice is just the starting point. We also know regulatory and supervisory practices, General Insurance Conditions (GIC) and internal underwriting practices inside and out. Based on these parameters, and on our analyses of current needs and market conditions, we develop new products in close collaboration with our clients. Taking careful account of the demand for insurance cover, we work out ways to transfer and minimise risk. To do so, we work closely with our clients’ sales and claims processing teams, paying close attention to related activities such as portfolio and case management.

We have a rock-solid grasp of numbers and the written word. Thanks to many years of experience, we understand the mechanisms that come into play after a product is launched – often over very long periods of time. We are intimately familiar with legislative details, swift to identify opportunities, and combine this in-depth knowledge with the actuarial expertise we use for product development. Portfolios

We help our clients to update their existing products or develop innovative new ones. In our consulting work, we take account of actuarial and legal factors as well as market conditions and each client’s own culture, policies and stipulations. At the same time, we never lose sight of the “invisibility” and long-term nature of insurance business.

When our clients set up new portfolios, we help them to obtain the appropriate authorisation and licences from the regulator, whether they are drawing up a proposed business plan or preparing preliminary business and solvency projections. Or when they are developing and – where necessary – obtaining approval for new insurance products.

Processes and tools

Data and words are what make insurance products intelligible – all viable insurance products are based on a clean, comprehensive data set that includes internal and external data points. We interpret this data from an actuarial perspective, applying internal policies and external regulations as appropriate. By doing so, we make the data both accessible to and understandable for our clients.
